The Cappella School of Music offers private and ensemble music lessons on all instruments and voice, to students of all ages and ability levels. Serving our community from the same location since 2005, Cappella offers outstanding music instruction, tailored to the needs of the individual student. Our exceptional faculty of teachers are either college trained or long-term, professional musicians who offer instruction in all styles of music from classical to contemporary pop and rock.
In addition to guitar, piano, voice , bass and drums, Cappella offers instruction on all classical strings and the horn, reed and woodwind band instruments. While our focus is on weekly private lessons and ensemble classes, we also offer audition prep classes and voice coaching classes for singers, and Master classes for advanced students. For beginners, we offer free introductory classes each month. These one-hour lessons allow students to get their feet wet, not just with the music lesson process, but also allow them to test-drive our outstanding teaching staff as well.
Cappella hosts concert recitals for our students to showcase their abilities six times per year, with both solo and ensemble performances. Cappella also has long standing Rock-Band and Pop-band programs, and has graduated many students who have gone on to major in music at a collegiate level (a number with scholarships). The school is open year round and, while students are encouraged to study with us all year, it is possible for students to start and stop studies to coordinate with their other activities.
Cappella's Director and co-ordinator of programs is Geoff Hansplant, a musician / songwriter / recording artist with forty years of musical experience and a Masters Degree in Education. Tuition at Cappella is paid on a month to month basis, with affordable rates based on the length of the individual student's weekly lesson. We accept personal checks and all major credit cards.
Cappella School of Music is located in the Parish House of Saint Philip in the Fields Episcopal Church in Oreland, at 317 Oreland Mill Road, Oreland, Pa. 19075.
What Makes Cappella #1?
While you are here researching the best options in music instruction for your family, we encourage you to consider the benefits of becoming a Cappella student and find out why we are the area's number one choice for lessons on all instruments and voice.
10 Benefits of Becoming a Cappella Student:
1. Guitar, Piano, Voice, Drums, Bass, Strings and Band Instrument Lessons in one Location
This saves our students time and money, as one family can study multiple instruments on the same day. Other studios offer multiple instruments, but we are the only one to offer all five of the major instruments, electric and acoustic guitar, electric and upright bass, voice, piano and drum set, plus all the strings and almost every instrument in the school jazz band.
2. The Largest and Most Qualified Teaching Faculty in the Greater Philadelphia Area
We have 11 teachers, all with either University training or professional performance experience. Our teachers are dedicated to learning about your personal musical goals and helping you to achieve them. With at least three teachers for almost every instrument, we are confident that we have the right one to meet your needs. In addition to their teaching credentials, our teachers have warm personalities, are extremely friendly and dedicated to teaching you the style of music that you want to learn.
3. A Wide Range of Teaching Times
3:00-8:00p.m. Monday through Thursday
4. A Proven Track Record of Excellence
Though the name of our school is new, The Cappella School of Music brings to you the same great faculty and one of the two founding partners of the SoundStage School of Music, which occupied these same studios for over eight and a half years. Founding partner Geoff Hansplant still oversees the entire workings of the school and is committed to making this the very best musical education experience you can have. The Cappella School of Music pledges to carry forward a proven track record of offering quality lessons, year round. Our full time mission is teaching music.
5. A Comfortable Waiting Area for Parents
Instead of waiting in a music retail store showroom, our clients enjoy a comfortable seating area with kids' toys, Wi-Fi and magazines. We also provide large observation windows on every door so that you can watch your child's lesson while you wait. Or, if you prefer, you can sit in on their lesson anytime you like.
6. Fully Stocked Lesson Rooms
Our rooms are stocked with everything you need for lessons, including amps, stereos, full drum kits with pads, keyboards, pianos and more. All you need to bring is your instrument and your enthusiasm!
7. Free, All Inclusive Recitals
We host six concert events each year where our students have the option of performing before a live audience. Students are not required to perform, but many choose to. Parents and extended family never have to pay admission or any related fees for these concerts. We hold our concerts at our facility in Oreland, Springfield Township and throughout the local area and play regularly to audiences of 150 to 200 people.
8. Personal Attention to Your Needs
When you call or e-mail The Cappella School of Music, you will have the attention of the owner of the business. We are the best music school in the area because we make it our personal business to be the best.
9. Located in Oreland, Just Outside of Chestnut Hill
Due to our central location and our proximity to the Fort Washington interchange of the Pennsylvania turnpike, we are convenient to all areas of southern Montgomery County, Chestnut Hill, Mount Airy and the Greater Northeast. Among our currently enrolled studnets, we are represented by the following communities: Springfield, Ambler, Jenkintown, Glenside, Oreland, Erdenheim, Chestnut Hill, Abington, Flourtown, Fort Washington, Dresher, Plymouth Meeting, Willow Grove, Hatboro, Wyncote, Lansdale, Upper Dublin, Wyndmoor, Horsham, Elkins Park, Ivyland and Maple Glen.
10. Month to Month Lessons
We do not require semester minimums for lessons. Every student here studies on a month to month basis. Your commitment to us is a month at a time and our commitment to you is to keep you happy and coming back for more.
If you are ready to start, you have nothing to lose as we only want students who truly want to be here and we will not commit you to a long term contract.

Learn the Songs You Want To Learn!
Now in our thirteenth year, Cappella remains committed to an active schedule of live performances, featuring our students and occasionally, our staff. We will be performing at several shows in the next few months. Come see us at our next performance!
Is your student participating in the elementary, middle or high school band or chorus in the Springfield, Upper Dublin, Wissahickon or Abington district? Private lessons are often the very best way to develop technique and hone repertoire. Trying out for the musical stage? Our vocal teachers consistently produce fine young singers who land the major roles. But our support of music programs in the local districts does not end there. Call us and ask about our commitment to support the district music programs. We look forward to hearing from you!
